South Africa benefits from a mild Mediterranean climate. It is dry and pleasant
thanks to the air coming from the sea. It sometimes gets quite windy.
The high season is from October - April.
The rainy season is from July to August, spring starts in September. October is a very popular month, not only because of its agreeable 20-25
degrees Celsius, but also because of the green vegetation and the whales
that are to be seen along the coasts.
The warmest time of the year is from November to February. The temperatures
go up to 25 - 30 degrees celsius and the air is hot and dry. The South African
autumn is from March to April. This is also a good time of year with a nice
Mediterranean climate. But during the winter season from June to August
(also called the Secret Season by the South Africans), the climate is
agreeable and mild too.
The Secret Season is also called the best kept secret of the Cape, because
it has the longest sunniest period with an average of 20 degrees celsius.
The prices are also lower.
The water is usually warmer in the protected False Bay, where Gordons Bay
is also situated, than on the other side of the peninsula. The warm waters
flow into the Bay in the South Easter, on the other side the water flows
into the sea.
