Our harbour town is situated on the shores of Gordon's Bay in the north-eastern corner of False Bay about 58 km from Cape Town and is named after Robert Jacob Gordon (1743–1795), the Dutch explorer of Scottish descent.
Gordon's Bay is the smallest of three towns in the Helderberg region, so named after the Helderberg Mountain which is part of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains which border the locality on two sides.
Within walking or little driving distance, kilometres of beaches invite you to relax, sail, surf or for the adventurous, shark cage diving! At the End of June/July, Gordon’s Bay hosts the Winter Wonder Land Festival of Lights. From August through to November the Southern Right Whale makes its grand entrance into False Bay providing holidaymakers and locals with the chance to view these quite magnificent creatures from the coastline itself.
The Whale Route/Garden Route actually starts in Gordons Bay, following the World magnificent “Clarence Drive.”

Zu Fuss oder in ganz kurzer Entfernung finden Sie Kilometer lange Straende die zum Entspannen einladen und/oder zum angeln, segeln, surfen, kite-surfen. Abenteuer kann man beim Tauchen nach dem weissen Hai erleben. Ende Juni/Juli wird in GORDON’S BAY das “WINTERWONDERLAND- FESTIVAL of LIGHTS gefeiert. Von Ende August bis meist Anfang November ist dann “Wal-Saison”. Southern Wright Wale und andere halten Einzug in unsere Bucht um hier ihre Jungen zur Welt zu bringen. Was ein fantasisches Schauspiel von “riesigen Kreaturen”, dazwischen Pinguine und oder Seeloewen oder gar Delfinschulen. Es gibt sogar ein bekanntes “Wal-Festival”. Meistens sind diese riesigen Geschoepfe vom Ufer aus, ja vom Guesthouse aus zu sehen. Ja, die “Walroute”, die beruehmte “Gardenroute” beginnt von Gordon’s Bay aus entlang einer schoensten Kuestenstrassen der Welt, dem “Clarence Drive”.
One can also easily reach several must-see attractions such as the well known wine regions of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek or the Capes fruit basin of Grabouw/Villiersdorp/Worcester. Approx one hours drive takes you to the Table Mountain National Park to visit the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Table Mountain (a must) with its cable car is a 45 minute drive away and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is an absolute perfect spot with its shops, restaurants and entertainment and the harbour with boats leaving for the famous Robben Island or the famous Aquarium.
Viele Sehenswuerdigkeiten in der Region sind leicht zu erreichen. Weingueter in Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Paarl. Franshhoek und Robertson oder das “Obstparadies” rund um Grabouw, Villiersdorp, Worcester sind innerhalb 1 Stunde erreichbar! Auch private “Wildlife Resorts sind in ca. 2 Std. zu erreichen. Der beruehmte Tafelberg, von hier aus zu sehen, das Kap der Guten Hoffnung, Cape Point sind genauso einfach zu erreichen wie Kapstadt City Center, die wweltberuehmte “Waterfront”, der Hafen, Robben Island, Camps Bay, der Botanische Garten, das Meeresmuseum, die tollsten Stadtrundfahrten auf “Hopp on-Hopp off- Basis”, Restaurants, Bar’s und Einkaufsmoeglichkeiten wie u.a. “Ratanga Junction”.
Gordons Bay is only 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding mountains and breathtaking scenery described by Sir France Drake as “The Fairest Cape of them all”. We will gladly organise your airport shuttle on request.
